News and Events December 2025

As 2025 draws to an end, our hearts are full of gratitude for the many friends and

benefactors who have given generously to JISF. We want to be worthy of your trust and

support and would like to assure you that your donations are put to good use at CND-

VN. They make a huge difference in the lives of children grabbing at a chance to get an

education.

To put it into perspective, these are some of the costs to which you have

contributed in the past three years:

US$50 will pay for a month’s tuition at Anh Linh Free School for one child.

US$500 will keep one child in school for one year.

US$50 will pay for a month’s room and board at CND-VN boarding houses (Rach Gia,

Binh Phuoc, Thanh An,…).

US$400 will pay for a teacher’s salary for one month at Anh Linh’s Free School.

US$16 will pay for the costs of books, supplies, and uniforms for one child for one year.

US$48 will pay for a bicycle for one child to ride to school.

US$4-16 will pay for a pair of sandals or shoes with a back strap. Many children still go

barefoot.

US$32 will pay for half board for a month for children who stay at school at noon.

US$1600 will pay for a well to be dug to serve a community in Dak Nong without

running water. Three alumnae from RM70 (Class of 1970 in Saigon) contributed to the

digging of two wells in a Dak Nong neighborhood in 2025.

US$6000 is the annual budget to run a boarding house for ten children. One alumnae

from RM70 provided a memorial gift of $5000 in 2025 to Rach Gia Boarding House in

honor of her mom’s family who was from the area.

Currently there are two facilities under construction, one in Binh Phuoc in the Highlands

(dormitory and cafeteria for about 80 boys and girls) and one boarding house in HCM

City (Binh Minh Boarding House). Besides running the current schools and boarding

facilities, the sisters are expanding and improving their operations.

Since the Sisters at CND-VN know best where to allocate the funds we contribute, we

have relied so far on their discretion to ensure the funds go where they are needed. In

the last three years, we have sent a total of US$35,000 to CND-VN. If we know of a

particularly dire situation as in the case of the wells at Dak Nong, we send out an extra

appeal to close friends who can quickly come to our help. We also cooperate with donors with different concerns (Dak Lak Leprosery and 3D Project) so that their

contributions go specifically to their targeted recipients.

The needs are many and ongoing. Your donations will enable the sisters to continue

their work with the children in their care for years to come as long as JISF is in

operation. By the way, if you have tablets or electronic books that are still serviceable

but that you no longer use, we would love to have you donate them. We will take care of

bringing them to the children.

Have a wonderful end of the year. Merry Christmas and Happy 2026!
